Resin Bound Surfacing in Southend-On-Sea Operating Across Southend-on-Sea

Upgrade your Southend home with a stunning resin driveway

We've all been there—stepping out of the car after a typical Essex downpour only to land right in a cold, muddy puddle. If your current driveway is looking a bit tired, or if you're sick of constantly pulling weeds out of cracked concrete, it might be time to consider resin bound surfacing. It’s one of the most popular choices we’re seeing across Southend-on-Sea, Westcliff, and Leigh-on-Sea right now, and for good reason. Not only does it look incredibly sleek, but it’s also tough enough to handle everything the coastal weather throws at it. At Foster and Sons Landscaping, we’ve spent years helping our neighbours transform their front gardens from 'just okay' to the best-looking house on the street.

Why Choose Us?

Say goodbye to puddles and planning permission headaches

Have you ever wondered why some driveways stay dry even after a storm while others turn into mini lakes? The secret is SuDS compliance. Because resin bound surfacing is permeable, rainwater simply soaks through the surface and back into the ground naturally. This is a massive win for homeowners in Southend because it usually means you won't need to navigate the maze of local council planning permission. We make sure the sub-base is perfectly prepared so that water drains away quickly, keeping your shoes dry and your property protected. It’s a practical, modern solution that solves the drainage problems common with older tarmac or concrete drives.

Who We Are

Resin Bound vs Resin Bonded: what's the real difference?

It’s easy to get confused by the terminology, but the difference really matters for the longevity of your driveway. Resin Bound is where we mix the natural stone aggregates with a high-quality UV-stable resin in a force-action mixer before hand-trowelling it onto the surface. This creates a smooth, porous finish that won't fade in the sun. On the other hand, Resin Bonded (or 'scattercoat') involves spreading resin over the ground and throwing stones on top. While it's a bit cheaper, it isn't permeable and can lose stones over time. We almost always recommend the bound system for our Southend clients because it’s much more durable and gives you that premium, seamless look that lasts for decades.

Tough enough for the Southend seafront

Living by the coast is lovely, but the salt air and sun can be brutal on building materials. That’s why we only ever use UV-stable resins. Have you seen those resin drives that have turned a weird yellow or 'amber' colour after a few years? That happens when a contractor cuts corners with cheaper materials. Our resins stay crystal clear, ensuring the natural colours of the stones you’ve picked look just as vibrant in five years as they do on day one. Whether you want a warm 'Golden Quartz' to match a traditional brick house or a sharp 'Silver Grey' for a modern feel, we’ve got a huge range of aggregates to suit your style.

Low maintenance living for busy families

Let’s be honest, nobody wants to spend their weekends jet-washing the drive or scrubbing away moss. One of the best things about a resin bound surface is how little work it actually needs. Because it’s a solid, hand-trowelled surface, there are no nooks and crannies for weeds to take root like they do in block paving. A quick sweep with a stiff brush and an occasional rinse with a garden hose is usually all it takes to keep it looking brand new. It’s also naturally slip-resistant, which gives you that extra peace of mind when the kids are running around or you're carrying the shopping in on a frosty morning.
